![]() Plus, there have been many reports that show that Blu-ray adoption is slightly ahead of DVD's adoption rate, based on stand-alone player sales. The players being ~$1000 and the discs being ~$30-$40. DVD's and DVD players, when released, were comparable to the prices of their Blu-ray counterparts at launch. "But, DVD is so much cheaper" and "DVD is so much more popular." Yes, now it is after 13 years, but it wasn't like that to begin with. Of course, I already know the response I'm going to get. A tech, in the coming years, the industry will make the standard. ![]() I say put the "console/format war" aside and just enjoy the new tech. ![]() But as people demand more in terms of quality in their entertainment and gaming, new tech is needed. Should we all still be listening to 8-tracks today just because Sony played a part popularizing cassette tapes, as well as developing CD's? Or maybe we should all just keep watching VHS, since Sony contributed half of the tech found in DVD's, as well as popularizing them with the launch of the PS2? If you say yes, you are an idiot.ĭon't get me wrong, DVD is great. I don't understand this self-imposed need or want to keep tech at a stand still, just because you don't like who developed it. ![]() Society, and the industry, are not going to stay in the 90's just because you guys love your gaming systems that don't have Blu-ray. I don't understand why we even have this DVD vs Blu-ray war raging. ![]()
